Graduating with a BA Hons in Business Admin & Marketing I followed a rather unusual career path working for radar defence, a greetings card company, a charity for the homeless in Bristol, then retrained as a holistic therapist running a private practice for over 15 years.
During my time as a therapist, I was Editor & Features Writer for Reflexions, the journal for the Association of Reflexologists and conducted advanced seminars & workshops in the UK and abroad.
Words have always been my foundation and saviour so, in 2015, I decided to build upon it and completed an MA in Creative Writing at Bath Spa Uni.
I am a longstanding member of Somerset Writers group and have also taught creative writing workshops.
I completed my first novel, The Taxidermist's Lover, while studying for my MA in Creative Writing.
My poems have won first prize in the Hysteria Poetry Competition 2014 and The Page is Printed Prize 2017, featured in the Ware Poets anthology and on Spilling Cocoa over Martin Amis. Non-fiction articles include features in Positive Health magazine, The Journal of Meteorology and a regular column in the Weston Mercury. I enjoy writing Flash Fiction and my pieces have been shortlisted with Fish Flash Competition, included in the Shortest Day/Longest Night anthology and published on Zero Flash.
In 2016, I was appointed as residential poet for the inspirational Theatre Melange & Somerset Libraries' collaboration - Out of the Mouth of the Parrett. I currently tutor a residential writing retreat in Cornwall.
I am working on my second novel and a collection of poems while actively seeking a literary agent.
